What's Got You Pumped For 2010?

Tuesday, 21 July 2009 08:48 by Michael Mukalian

Toolin' through the videos, there's a couple that stand out to me that I'm really excited about:

  1. Multiple check-in/check-out: this is a really key feature, now if they'd only release some info on this when uploading to a library w/multiple content types...
  2. Visio Services: slowly they're moving more of their services like these to the SharePoint platform to assist with collaboration around them (no more printing to *cough* PDF *cough* and then emailing, eh?)
  3. Web 2.0 Nature of screens: you see dialogs appearing/disappearing that allow you to enter information, rather than posting to different pages and such.  Great step forward.  How does this affect branding a site now?  Only time will tell...mebbe once a CTP comes out we'll get a better idea...

What's got you stoked for the next rev?

June's Cumulative Update's Out

Tuesday, 21 July 2009 08:27 by Michael Mukalian

Following the schedule, MS has just released the June Cumulative Update for SharePoint here.

You can find the WSS 3.0 related download information and details here: Information | Detailed Description

You can find the MOSS 2007 related download information and details here: Information | Detailed Description

Note: Remember, starting with April's CU, SP1 is a pre-requisite for these.  Installation of SP2 and Bugfix #971620 (Trial Edition bug) are recommended.  The next CU should have the Trial Edition bugfix rolled into it.

Enjoy! - M

Anouncing The SharePoint 2010 Technical Preview

Monday, 13 July 2009 12:13 by Michael Mukalian

Just announced here, SharePoint 2010 has achieved "Technical Preview" status.  There's also a "sneak peek" site that contains videos, FAQs, and other information around the 2010 product.  The cool thing is that the Public Beta should be available later this year.  So get ready to fire up those virtual machines!
